With Netflix’s Transfer Profile feature, you can now get your account without losing your streaming experience. Also, if you are planning to remove someone from your account, you can give them a good way out. Either way, the Transfer Profile is designed to make the transition easy.
But who can access it, and how does Transfer Profile work? Keep reading to find out.
What is Netflix Profile Transfer?
According to Netflix, its Profile Transfer feature is designed to help people who are sharing the same account set up their subscriptions without losing all of their Netflix recommendations. This way, someone can start a new account without having to personalize their profile again.
Of course, some may argue that this is just a new way for Netflix to crack down on password sharing and make users pay for their subscriptions.
Netflix released this new feature in October 2022 for all members worldwide. You’ll know this feature is available because Netflix will notify you by email.
How does Profile Transfer work?
This feature will help people sharing the same account to transfer their viewing history, personalized recommendations and other account settings when they subscribe themselves. And if you love playing the best Netflix games on your phone, you’ll be happy to know that saved games will carry over to your new account, too.
So, if multiple people use the same profile, and you constantly have to change settings or recheck Netflix recommendations, you should consider transferring your profile to a new subscription.
As Netflix creates a copy of your profile, it will keep the backup on the old account, so you don’t have to worry about losing your preferences if something goes wrong.
How to Transfer Your Netflix Profile to a New Account
If you decide to subscribe on your own, go to Netflix, go to your Profile homepage, click the Profile icon in the upper right corner, and select Transfer Profile.
Once the feature is available, you’ll need to go through on-screen instructions to set up your new Netflix account, keeping all of your profile information.
Don’t lose your Netflix preferences
Now you know how to create a new account without losing anything from your current profile. If you need to transfer your profile to a new account that you’re paying for yourself, you can save a few bucks by getting the Netflix Basic with Ads plan.
With a launch date set for November 3, 2022, Basic with Ads will reduce the price of the Netflix Basic plan by $3 and offer four to five minutes of commercials every hour. Each ad will run between 15 and 30 seconds, which means you’ll be interrupted by between eight and 20 commercials every hour to watch your shows or movies.
The other big difference is that some movies and shows will be unavailable. However, we do not know which movies and shows will be absent from the Netflix Basic with Ads subscription plan at the time of writing.
There’s more you need to know about Netflix’s Basic With Ads subscription plan, but apart from the lack of commercials and content, the Basic plan and Basic With Ads offer almost the same.
Is Netflix Basic Worth It?
To understand whether Basic is achievable with ads or not, we need to learn what you gain and what you lose.
First off, it’s pretty obvious that you’ll save $3 every month. You’ll get to watch the same 720p content you could with the Basic plan, and you can’t share this account with any family members since you can only watch content on one device at a time.
So, by going for the Basic with Ads plan, you will not lose any of the functionality of Netflix, as there are no restrictions as such, as we have seen while comparing Netflix with other streaming services with ads.
However, in addition to losing access to some content, you’ll also lose your time each month. As we have already mentioned, you will get about four to five minutes of advertisements every hour. Let’s say you watch Netflix for about five to six hours every week, which means about two hours of commercials every month.
